The first and the second Balkan Music Awards, organized by Balkanika Music Television, brought together all countries in the region. The music proved unquestionably that boarders between 143 million people do not exist. The events took place on Alexander I square in the Bulgarian capital, where some of the biggest stars on the Balkans performed on the remarkable stage in the presence of 30 000 excited viewers. Due to successful media partnerships, these special concerts were shown live, in all countries on the Balkan Peninsula.

THE BEGINNING
On December 7th· 2009, Balkanika Music Television officially announced the start of the First Balkan Music Awards 2010.
The official launch event took place at Night Flight club in the presence of prominent guests from the musical business, embassy representatives from the Balkan countries, members of the Balkan Academy and others.
In a special video, many of the most notable figures in the music industry granted their support and commitment to the Balkan Music Awards.
Part of the Balkan's most famous performers arrived in Sofia to show their support and dedication to the significant international project. In a special addressed letter, the Minister of foreign affairs, Rumiana Jeleva, supports the initiative of Balkanika Music Television: "As a true fan and supporter of Balkan music, I am very excited that we will finally have the opportunity to enjoy our common Balkan musical culture, brought together under this unified platform. Music has always played an important role in our Bakan culture and identity. It serves as an instrument of friendship, understanding and harmony among nations with different past. Therefore, this project for a unified, cross-border platform for a musical manifestation on the Balkans is representative for our region specific European culture."
